I've had 7 years with my 1.6t, it's been a great car. It's been a lot of fun due to being able to surprise the odd bumper bully with its acceleration.

I wasn't using it anywhere near as much as I used to though and it deserved more than being sat on the drive for days on end.

You don't see too many around either. It's a shame they stopped making the engine, I thought it was fantastic.

Somebody will pick up a lovely car

I'll probably sell/part-ex mine in 6 months or so, been a good car but had it long enough and fancy a change. It still looks showroom condition with 21'500 on the clock, so it'll be a lovely car for someone also.

Mine will be 12 years old when its extended, extended, extended warranty runs out. Might look after that but it's only covered about 27K miles, it's been utterly reliable, costs peanuts to run and still goes rather well when you put your boot down with no rattles or squeaks. Not sure what I'd replace it with?

I do not use mine much now either.

However, I see it as a keeper having only done 25 k miles total. The GM Medium series engine used was designed to run to 250k miles for the American maket and had progressively risen in power output from 145 to 165 to 200 BHP approx.

Using specially developed thin steel from Port Talbot reduced the weight of the K ST by 200 kg and coupled with the sleek body enabled a 146 mph top speed.

Mine does 50 mpg at 70 mph and 46.5 average over the life of the car.
The flip chip silver looks great still and I was it with water twice a year using a soft head caravan brush - the laquer layer stops dirt adhereing.

A great car from the General!

Not driven the Corolla but the later CVTe/eCVT box is supposed to be better. Certainly the taxis we were in in Ibiza (every other taxi was a Corolla Touring) were comfy, quiet and well built. I still prefer a manual gearbox but they seem to be disappearing as the hybrids and electric cars take over.
