Hi

I thought i would make a list of known software versions for the intellilink's.

I'll start the list of with what i know, feel free to chip in, if you have other versions and dates.

R4.0

1.12.5.2 - Jul 31 2015 (This is the earliest version i have heard about)

1.34.5.6 - October 25 2017

1.36.2.5 - December 28 2017 (This is the latest version i have heard about)

I dont understand what you are saying but that firmware should be the 2017 one as mentioned above.

I think Deivi46 means that he got this firmware and that the update was installed in 2018.
That would make sense yes.

It seems that the latest firmware released for the radio is still from 2017, which is a bit poor.

Still hoping that the guy that says that they are working in a newer version with OTA support, is right and they will release something in the not to distant future.

Would hate to pay for getting my radio upgraded, and then have them release an updated firmware a month later, that has the OTA feature.

I don't know why we, the drivers, cannot update the damn thing! 😡

The opel authorized shops here are really bad and expensive.
Agreed.

From way before this radio was developed, phones were updateable over the air.

The first flatscreen TV i got, had no Wifi, but even then i could just go to the manufacturer's webside, download a file, copy it to a USB drive, insert this drive into the USB port on the TV and turn it on and it would update.

This radio even has all the wifi hardware and i know that atleast in some vehicles that use the same HMI box, there was a "Check firmware" option.

Basically Vauxhall deliberately made it so that the end user would have to pay them to upgrade the radio.

The update is a 2 step proces.

1. Put a USB drive with the proper firmware into the USB socket of the car and turn on the ignition and the radio will update itself.

2. Connect vauxhall diagnostic device to the car, and perform variant coding.

If they had not deliberatly made step 2 a Vauxhall only feature, it would atleast have been possible to do the firmware upgrade ourselves.

Is this a R4.0 or Navi 900

I got my R4.0 updated mid 2019 and at that time the latest was december 2017 firmware and have heard of no one that has had anything newer for the R4.0

I also just got this firmware on the R4.0
Strange why i was not given this firmware in mid 2019. I know they were online with the vauxhall server because at first they only gave me a firmware slightly newer than the one i initially had.

Never the less, i dont expect there to be any significant changes, as far as i can see the one i have is 1.36.2.5 and this one is 1.36.2.6

Usually the last number in such a version number denotes a very very small change...Could be a spelling error in one language for example.

If you change the 1 it is a major change, the 36 is big changes or bugfixes, the 2 is small changes and the 5/6 are cosmetic changes usually

That said, i would have liked for them to release a changelog...But being vauxhall, they offcourse never do.

These dates look like build dates, after the code is built by the software guys, there is likely a long QA process that means it might take a long time to reach dealers (and also why the dates on the first '16 plate cars are 2015)

It is r.4 yes. My car is my 15 and I never got an update before. This is the first time I got an update and they charged me for it. I especially asked for it this time as I was having problems using Android Auto.

I have recently taken delivery of a new Astra K SRi 1.4T Auto, (Non NAV), and the software looks totally different to anything I have seen previously.
The system is fast and responsive, all appears to work as expected, (with the exception of being able to see pictures and play video even with usb stick formatted FAT32). See pics below... There are several pages that list various versions of software and appx 30 further pages with Terms and Conditions etc... Take a look and see what you think.... At present my only gripe is not being able to view images and videos even when stationary, (cannot even see folders except for audio related items).

I have tried tapping on screen to gain access to the developer mode mentioned in previous posts but no luck

Apols images are not aligned correctly and not in order. If you start viewing at the bottom of the list where the main menu screen is, they should read as per listed in the unit.

From MY 2020, they replaced the R4.0 and the navi 900 with new and "improved" versions. (Faster processor and so on)

Or to put it in another way....From MY 2020, the HMI units are the same as you get in Peugeot's ....

To be honest....Unless the new units will be "Over The Air" updateable and/or have Wireless Android Auto, i could not care less. Whenever i use the R4.0 for something it is either FM radio or Android Auto and those 2 things works fine on the R4.0

Do you have any "Wifi" menu and/or "Check for software update" menu's in the radio ? (Or alternatively any "Update via USB")

Knowing vauxhall, and especially after being taken over by the french, i would expect them to still want you to go to vauxhall and have the radio updated and pay the garage for the effort.
