Looking to change my existing headlights to LED, I'm either looking for a guide and everything I'd need to buy... OR is this a service anyone on here can do or knows someone who can?

Quite like the look of full front LED (fog lights probably excluded as hardly ever used).

Any tips, recommendations or offers are more than welcome. Thanks in advance.

Number 1, there are threads on here, that discus different bulbs, some like Philips are longer and need a new 3D printed cap to be able to close up the lamp unit.

So I watched this guy fit this:

I was just wondering if anyone had done similar. definitely would not be fitting the matrix ones lol no chance. It was more of changing my normal bulbs to a nice set of LEDs that are compliant for the UK and look nice on a Black Astra K lol

The problem with led and hid conversions is that they will fail the mot for cars after 1/4/1986
(unless you have a compliant tester lol)

i'm even considering buying a set for mine instead of the Lidl specials i have in at present

i'm even considering buying a set for mine instead of the Lidl specials i have in at present

Agree on the Halfords 200% brighter bulbs, they look brighter and whiter than out Lidl specials and so they should be at 4 times the priceAlthough as I have a spare set of Lidl bulbs, I stick with them. Maybe by the time I've gone through my second Lidl set, Halfords would have out a 300% brighter set

To be honest @Valer I'd probably take it to someone to be done. There's is a garage about 2 mile away from me that specialises in Vauxhalls, they do servicing, MOTs, repairs and mods so they probably know all the rules in side out.

Does anyone with the Halfords ones have some pics of what they look like at night?

What's the main thing I should know with changing head lights in regards to laws and regulations. I'm just out at min so haven't given that earlier link a read.

Also I meant to say there is a slight whining sound on the overrun after blipping the engine I assume its the turbo spooling down. There is no acoustic padding under the bonnet. There's no padding under the bonnet, that's normal, mine has none, either. It may help if you run some premium fuel...

Cheers Boro, so I'd be fine changing out these headlights for the Halfords ones with no issues legally or with MOT? Nothing else I'd need to do, just swap them out?

Exactly right. I used H7, 100% brighter ones I'd previously bought at Lidl around a year ago when they were on offer, 2 for a fiver. Bought two boxes. They're better than factory, but don't looks as white as the Halfords ones. I also bought a couple of H1, 50% brighter bulbs from euro's when they were on offer, think I paid £7 for those. They're easy enough to change, just have to undo a couple of clips from their bulb holders to take out the bulbs, like for like swap. It's really the winter month you need them & especially on poorly lit b roads.
Although you'd think I'd be used to driving with poor head lights, as I've been driving vauxhalls from the 80's onwards, not owned one yet with decent factory headlights
Factory fitted led headlights are like the difference between night & day. Once owned Leon with them. Only negative, LED factory headlights are normally expensive to replace, unlike halogen bulbs (ones we have).

It's not just about the bulbs either, it's also about what projects them. I've also driven other cars (none vauxhalls), that have better halogen headlights from standard.
If I were starting a fresh now, I'd also have a go with the Halfords ones or maybe wait until they have a sale on them

I think they do them in packs of twos that work out a bit cheaper.

Just thought though with the Astra K having auto head lights , if I ever go through somewhere like a drive thru at night, am I gonna absolutely blind person Infront on me since they're much brighter headlights?

Ik they'll be in dipped (hopefully) but what do you think? Are these too bright?

I doubt it on dipped beam to be honest.
