Carefully but be prepared to use some force is my experience,plastic trim tools make the job a bit easier,
maybe it was just me but it's honestly the worst mirror cover i've ever changed and i've done an awful lot over the years ☕ ☕ ☕

I clonked mine on a drainpipe - popped straight off! Thankfully it was undamaged though it took a few different angles of attack to get it to click back into place! Still not quite sure how I managed it....

Nope it makes no odds,in fact with the mirror off it makes it a bit harder because of the difficulty of keeping the bugger still
