Hello

I want to replace the brake fluid in my 2018 Astra RSV. The brake fluid is DOT 4, apart from discharging the old fluid and installing new fluid with bleeding, are there any electronic processes that I need to be concerned?

Please advise and I hope you can help.

Cheers Peter

No need for electrical processes. Simply bleeding the brake system is enough. First, the contents of the reservoir must be drained. Then, fill it almost to the top with new fluid and start bleeding the wheels one by one, starting from the farthest. For right-hand drive cars, this is the rear left wheel, for left-hand drive cars, this is the rear right wheel. Then the adjacent rear wheel and finally the front wheels, starting from the one further from the brake cylinder and ending with the opposite. If the car has manual transmission, the clutch must also be bled.
Very important! - the fluid level in the reservoir during bleeding must be constantly almost full.
I would advise you to use DOT 4+ fluid or DOT 4 with better qualities such as a higher boiling point.
