Does anyone else have any issues using Android Auto with the Vauxhall Infotainment system? I have a 2016 Astra and I have had an issue ever since the first day that I bought the car in the sense that sometimes when I connect my phone via USB, the infotainment screen displays a black screen. I am able to press the home button on the infotainment system and the Android Auto icon is there but when I press on it, the black screen returns.
I have narrowed the issue down to my phone being stuck in "Charging Mode" where I have swiped down from the top and press on the current USB configuration. Normally with AA working it is set to Transfer Files. If I change the USB option to Transfer files (or any other option) then the infotainiment screen re-appears but I then have to unplug and replug the USB cable for it to launch Android Auto, unfortunatley the USB option on my phone reverts back to "Charging Mode". Even if I enable developer options, USB Debugging and select MTP as the default, I still have the same problem.
In order for me to get this to work, which is going to sound daft, I have to turn off ignition, get out of the car and wait for 5 minutes so that the infotainment system shuts down. Get back in my car, turn the key so that the infotainment system starts from the boot screen and then plug my phone in, this normally corrects the issue.
I have had 3 Samsung Phones, all of which have experienced this issue and I have replaced the USB cable with high speed data cables and still I get the same issue. I have gone to Samsung Support however they have not been able to provide any help. I have gone to my local Vauxhall dealership who have never heard of the issue so I am a bit stuck as to what to do and where to go.
Is there some way to either reboot the infotainment system without having to get out of the car and wait for 5 minutes, I can't see a reboot option within the menu's or has anyone come across this issue before? I have searched on google and there have been many people experiencing the same issue but all without a fix.
Thanks
Kevin
