Re: Piston 1 issues

I told the lady who sorted out the booking in of the car , about it being a common problem with that engine , but apparently she has never seen that problem in sunderland . Just a thought, did your car not warn you oil life was down to zero? On mine when ...

Re: Oil quality

The app should get it's info from the car, so maybe it's not connecting for some reason. Does the app report the correct mileage? I'd be tempted to delete the app and re-install it.

Re: Piston 1 issues

How old was the car when you bought it, and how long have you had it for? You say it had 11000 miles on the clock, the service interval on the petrols is 18000 miles or 12 months. if the car was less than 12 months old when you got it then it wasn't due a service. If it was over 12 months old it sho...

Re: What other cars did you consider?

I also noticed the penny pinching. In addition to the above one tiny thing sums it up for me, the removal of the plastic hinges on the rear shelf. It’s like they spent all the money on the infotainment system and making the dash look nice. Thinking back on it I actually preferred my astra J sri 165...

Re: Tailgate locking

If you've got the key on you is it not doing what it should do? I've not got a keyless Astra but the wife's Megane works that way.

Re: 1.0 ecoflex engine/transmission

Have you tried any premium fuels yet? Filled the car up with some Momentum on Friday evening. I took the car to work on Saturday and on the 60 mile commute it showed 54mpg. Later on I took it on a longer run. On the way home on the M1 I took it up to 70 and put the cruise on and got 44mpg showing o...

Re: Where do you place your smartphone for good GPS reception?

I used to put my old Sony in the armrest, had a few GPS problems towards the end but that was I think down to the phone going west. I now have an HTC that doesn't really fit in the console, so I have that in the cupholder and it seems fine.

Re: What other cars did you consider?

At first I thought I'd get myself something around 3 years old, and really fancied a Giulietta, until I sat in one at a car supermarket. I really didn't like the quality of the interior, it felt cheap. I then saw the deals available on the new Astra with the interest free and scrappage and decided I...

Re: Anyone had the windscreen replaced?

I would talk to your insurance company, if it needs re-calibrating then that surely should be covered under the cost of changing the screen. A work colleague's son had his changed on a VW and they had to recalibrate the camera but didn't charge extra for it.
