Just make turning off the engine the last thing you do before getting out the car.

Re: New car or new tyres?
I fitted Avon ZV7s, which are quieter than the Bridgestones but nothing major. Don't expect a big improvement regardless of what tyres you fit.

Re: New car or new tyres?
Sadly it will always be loud, regardless of what tyre you fit.
I changed tyres, sound proofed the boot area and arches which made no disernable difference.

Wished they kept it in the 2020 model, then I would simple upgrade next year.
No other hatch is grabbing my attention for the 2nd hand value.

Re: Changing the battery - how to
The pipe on the side is the vent tube that must be attached to avoid explosion. Most batteries have a vent hole on both sides but only one is needed on the Astra so the other side gets plugged.
Batteries in the engine bay don't generally use tge vent tubes as they are in open air.

Re: Removing rear griffin badge
You can't, it's a single moulded piece.
You can seperate the switch from the chrome piece but you have to remove the whole unit from the boot.

Check the vent ducting as it might be catching.
