Re: New to Astra ( 1.6T 200hp)

Yeah I'm still undecided on the focus , looks a little BMW 1 series in shape , getting quite good reviews but interior not top notch. Maybe it's an age thing , my son 22 loves them especially in the new ST trim. He can't afford one so is going for the previous shape ST soon so is it aimed at younger...

Re: New to Astra ( 1.6T 200hp)

Hi Jj , hope you are well. We"ll agree to disagree on the 1.0t lspi issue , mine was a particularly noisy engine and something wasn't right and at the same time there were 2 other 1.0t in the dealer with engine issues but yes I suppose it could of been anything but as you know I p/ex it before they ...

Re: New to Astra ( 1.6T 200hp)

Oh those days Dan !!!! I remember doing many oil changes over the years and do you think I could ever get the seized oil filter off most cars ? Desperate measures I hammered a screw driver through the filter and got it off that way......would I do that now ? No way lol

Re: BTCC win in an Astra

Agree Griffin turkington the 'gentleman' of touring cars , tapped another car yesterday (jacksons ford) and could of overtaken but was a real professional , stayed behind and didn't get penalised .Deserved that trophy again yesterday but you have to feel for cammish , mind you those Honda brakes wer...

Re: BTCC win in an Astra

Yes mr Plato is a marmite man , like him or hate him. Very outspoken , has the last say on everything (other BTCC drivers know this) and can be a nutter on the track. But with the likes of ash Sutton and a few others he has to be competitive. Took Tom ingrams wing mirror off on ingrams victory lap a...

Re: Changes in Astra 2020

Totally agree with your last paragraph 880PEL , the 1.6t is a peach of an engine.
Seems like the 1.5d 4 cyl is fine in the grandland X but the new 1.5d 3 cyl is gruff in the Astra.

Re: BTCC win in an Astra

I hope so , the Astra has come strong right at the end. Some say he's too old to race but with 97 BTCC wins I reckon he'll want the magic 100 by next year.

Re: Changes in Astra 2020

Hi astraowner , yep gone to 1.5d 3 cyl units now , various power forms but tested was the 120bhp unit. What car (November issue) say it's gruff , noisy , has to be worked hard , noisy on motorway , fiddly infotainment , poor handing etc etc hence finishing behind the focus and winner skoda scala. Fo...
