Today is our final day with the Astra. As of tomorrow morning we are changing to another car.
We are staying with Vauxhall though.
Moving to a Grandland X. Hopefully it will be easier for the wife to get in and out of.

Nice,

It took me a few goes in her Grandland to sort myself out with the electric handbrake but apart from that its fairly decent motor to drive.
The 3 pin socket in the back I still find a bit weird. does make it easier to hoover it though.

I feel its got better brakes than the Astra as well

Glad to hear you are enjoying it, my dad has the Grandland X on his shopping list at present. He's got a '13 plate Outlander which they've had from new that is getting far too long in the tooth now given the issues they've had and its plummeting RV.

Do they all come with electric handbrakes or can you get a "proper" lever? I'm assuming they auto release if you try to drive off but won't if you don't have the seatbelt on?

I think they are all electronic, mind its the new shape Peugeot 3008 in drag.
My wife has the keyless entry / start & the start stop function.

About 1 try in 10, I get the boot closing dance working..
Click the boot release and it opens for you. Click the red button and it shuts for you or do the silly dance and wiggle your right foot under the rear bumper... pointless gadget.

Good points
Raised driving position.
going from my astra to the Grandland its all laid out in the same places.
Heated seats / steering wheel.
comfy seats rather than sporty.
1.2 - 3 cylinder is good for 130bhp. Never feels laggy or that slow for a big car.
Sips fuel.
Loads of room inside.
big boot.

Bad points.
The auto boot close.
Getting in the habit of the electronic handbrake.
Rubbish cupholders.
