Anyone got any opinion on if I should buy an exhaust tip to fit to the car? Sometimes I think they don't look good other times I think maybe they would ?! :x
Yeah just enough space. I used a tape measure that you use for measuring yourself. 90cm from the weld at top of the pipe to the bottom. Just mark it on old pipe and cut. The old back box just pulled out of the rubber hangers with no wd40 needed. Then just slide new back box in and try and get the pipe as flush as possible and clamp down. Didn't know how much to tighten so I just played it by eye. Couldn't feel any leaks. Then just push new trim in and admire your work.
There's a fiddly little push in gromit. One on either side of trim you have to get out. Your supposed to push the plastic pin through the top and pull out. But I just got 2 flat head screwdrivers and prised it out. Then the rest round are just little clips.
I had someone helping me feed the back box into place while I was underneath the car. I done 99% of it though. He just passed me the screwdrivers. (Honest)
The sound is different from what it was before ... it's a bit more "guttural", plus it feels a bit more power at sudden accelerating ! I've specifically tested to see the differences !
And thanks to my friend @SPIDER who made it first in Poland and gave us that tip I decided to describe here with all credits I thought it would be great to tell about this idea on forum where I found a lot of advices etc... Let's imagine how manufacturing of double pipe increase now
My next step is making black opel logo... But don't know how to take it off to paint
It took me a good 30 mins to remove that damn plastic trim...
To cut my exhaust I used a large hacksaw, cut through really easily and somehow managed to get a nice straight cut.
Very tight to work under the car on axle stands but definitely do-able.
