Hi all.
Done about 200miles since we bought our SRi last week. All was well until last night driving home from work. There is now a very noticeable rattle across all speeds but only when on rough surface roads. The road vibration through the car seems to be highlighting something loose behind the dash.
Do you have any similar experiences?
Should I go back to dealer with it?
I do have a video but can't upload from my phone direct to here.
EDIT :- I've put a vid on YouTube- here's the link
Picked up my 11 month Astra all ok. Next morning started it heard a rumbling noise behind the dash. Back to dealer and tech advised selector fork issue. Sorted under warranty. All fine.
I have problem with vent cover trim on dashboard.
On drivers side it wont stay in place/clip in. No matter what i try. Any solution. Allready tried with replacement part. Its the same.
Which side goes in first? Side facing driver or side facing windshield?
I tried to press in hard but it just wont clip in place. What should i do?
Thanks.
Maybe. I will take a look. I can press cover down but it wont clip in. Its hard to see from cabin...
Am i doing it right by inserting front side facing windshield first and then press down on side facing cabin right?
I have been experiencing the same issues and have taken a long time looking into the problem before finding the solution after removing and installing the instrument cluster several times and testing the car continually. If you remove the instrument cluster you will still hear the rattle when you tap the top of the dashboard above the instrument cluster. I found that the upper dashboard directly above the instrument cluster is hollow (2 piece). I finally resolved the issue packing insulating foam into this gap on the top of the dashboard cluster surround (instrument cluster removed)!
Testing confirmed that the noise is completely eliminated. Removing the instrument cluster only takes 5 minutes and packing that gap behind it a further 5 mins….
Hi Kevwalk I have a rattle that sounds like it's inside the dash on my Holden Astra RSV (Australian) RHD and I found that it's possibly from the plastic shroud under the dash on LHS footwell under glovebox. I think it covers the fan assy.
Photo A shows how it sits in freeform and 2nd picture i've pulled it down slightly for the picture.
The plastic lug doesn't appear to do anything but vibrates and rubs.
Funnily enough I also have a red SRI wit exactly the save clicking/knock that you describe. I've tried everything I can think of but still no idea where its coming from.
